In these sweltering August days, the feeling of getting home and taking off your bra is downright euphoric. Like nothing in this world. But why stop there? If celebs have endorsed any trend this summer, it’s ditching the undergarment altogether. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the skimpy tops and dresses dominating our favorite stores each require their own complicated, no-show bra. And who wants to deal with that? As much as we appreciate the innovation, a woman can only be asked to buy so much specialty underwear before the whole thing starts to feel borderline crazy.
Granted, the celebrities who’ve gone braless this summer are working with something between an A and a very perky C-cup. So there’s that. But if you happen to fall within that range, or you’re just comfortable showing a little more than most, why not? Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Jennifer Aniston make the move look damn good. (Not pictured: Selena Gomez, Margot Robbie, Rihanna, and countless others who’ve been photographed this summer in all their natural glory.) And wouldn’t it feel amazing—like just-got-back-from-vacation amazing—to walk down the street without one on? Remember: There’s no rule that says you’ve got to wear something tissue-thin that day. If you’re wearing a sundress with some strategic puckering, or a knit tank that has a smoothing effect, no one even has to know.
“I really don’t see what the big deal is with going braless,” Jenner posted on her blog last month. “I think it’s cool and I really just don’t care! It’s sexy, it’s comfortable, and I’m cool with my breasts. That’s it!” All we can say is, amen.
